The Lauterbach family has been serving central Iowa in the car business since the 1950's. Back then, Ray Lauterbach worked with Paul Manning Chevrolet in Des Moines through the mid 1950's. He then moved to Perry, Iowa and opened his dealership known as Lauterbach Chevy Buick. As president of the Iowa Auto Dealers Association during his years in Perry, Ray Lauterbach distinguished himself as a leader in the automobile industry. You can say it's in the blood or maybe the genes. Cars and trucks have been an essential part of the Lauterbach family for many years.

In 1973, Ray's son, Dean Lauterbach, started working in the family dealership full time. He carried on the family tradition, opening Lauterbach Buick Pontiac GMC -- a GM dealership in Newton, Iowa in 1981. That's the Lauterbach Buick Pontiac dealership that central Iowans know and trust today. In 1999, Jason Lauterbach, Dean's son, joined the dealership.
